HUNTING: Giammanco (PDL), dramatically casualty figures

Federcaccia''and other associations in defense of hunters are hiding behind a finger. The figures of victims of the hunt, 35 dead and 73 wounded, are dramatic and depressing this year.'' The deputy said the PDL Gabriella Giammanco, member of the Ministerial Committee for an Italy 'animal friendly'.

''These numbers - continues the deputy PDL - impose a serious reflection on 'hunting, which enjoys only 1 per cent of Italians, but that puts at risk the lives of many people that has nothing to do with this anachronistic practice.''

''The current legislation on hunting should be reviewed,''he warns, adding that''and 'need to increase the safety distance from which you can' shoot, close 'of houses, roads and buildings and must prohibit hunters to enter and hunt freely in the funds because of others 'property must be guaranteed the right to' privacy. The bill the committee 'animal friendly' moves in this direction and to 'answer - he concludes - the majority of Italians who opposes the hunt.''(ASCA)
