Museum of guinea pigs - Museum "Pels"


The beautiful "Casa della Meridiana ", a distinguished example of alpine architecture, named after a sundial painted on the facade South, now houses the Museum "Pels". Occitan Hair Museum, preserves and passes down the instruments, documents and historical artifacts relating to the ancient and unusual world of "Pelassiers" ("guinea pigs" in Piedmontese), collectors of hair at the end of the nineteenth century, every winter Elva left loads of flowing hair, bought, washed, sorted by length and color, which resold abroad to large producers of the finest wigs.

The museum reconstructs the various stages of production and hair collects testimonies, photographs, documents and commercial craft. The course also includes

watching a beautiful documentary film titled "The Road of hair." They are also available for visitors audio guides in English, Italian, German and Occitan.
